Red Cliffs Audubon will hold a general membership meeting on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Washington City Library. The speaker for the evening will be Tracy Taylor, an author and illustrator who is presently completing her book, Birds of the West Indies and painting final illustrations for A Guide to Bird Behavior to be published by Princeton University Press. Trips with the Academy of Natural Sciences to remote rainforests fueled her interest in tropical birds, where she documented habitat for the Cloud-forest Pygmy-Owl, the subject of her painting for The Auk, a science journal devoted to birds. She has worked as a birdwatching guide for a resort in the southwest in addition to writing her field guides. Tracy also is the illustrator for the Black Desert Resort field guide for birds of Black Desert and Snow Canyon. The title of her presentation is An Eclectic Pathway to Being a Bird Artist- The melding of science, art, and adventure in creating bird illustrations that inform and engage.
Please mark your calendars for the meeting and plan to join fellow birders.
